Greetings. Thank you for your interest in my services and for taking your time to find out more about what I do and who I am. I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington. I was a core faculty member and Associate Professor at Bastyr University for seven years where I held the role of Clinical Training Director for the integrative Master of Science in Nutrition and Clinical Health Psychology program. In addition, I was a co-founder and co-director for the newly established Center for Social Justice and Diversity at Bastyr University. I am also an Associate with Executive Diversity Services, Inc. Prior to my graduate training in psychology, I had a career in health care administration in Southern California.

Who I am as a therapist. My approach in therapy is centered around building an authentic and open relationship with you, which I believe is integral to fostering trust. I use an integrative approach in my work that is grounded in a multicultural lens and draw from several modalities to help you meet your goals, including interpersonal, systems, relational-cultural and strength-based approaches. I incorporate mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioral, gestalt, and EMDR interventions as needed. Ultimately, I believe in fostering change by helping you reclaim your inherent strengths and realign (or rediscover) your core values with how you live or wish to live in the world. My style is collaborative, flexible, direct and client-centered.

Areas of interest and expertise. While I am trained as a generalist psychologist - meaning that I can work with a wide range of mental health issues, I have specialty training in mindfulness-based approaches to working with anxiety/stress related disorders and depression and also have experience working with women's issues and relationships, sexual trauma, and substance use. I am also trained in EMDR for individuals and in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy for couples. I have taught courses and supervised programs that incorporate principles of health behavior change and motivational interviewing, and so I enjoy working with individuals trying to make changes that lead to healthier lifestyles. Such changes might be related to exercise, nutrition/diet, coping with a health issue or addressing body image concerns.
